UPDATE: Tennessee Business Relief Program

On June 2, 2020, Governor Bill Lee announced the use of federal Coronavirus Relief Funds to assist Tennessee small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. Through the Tennessee Business Relief Program, Governor Lee has directed the Tennessee Department of Revenue to issue approximately $200 million in business relief payments to reimburse more than 33,000 small businesses for costs incurred as a result of mandatory business closures.

Eligibility notifications were sent to businesses beginning the last week of June. When businesses receive notification, they are prompted to complete an online pre-award certification form in order to verify their eligibility criteria and agree to the program’s payment guidelines. Business owners who do not have online access have been asked to complete a paper certification form. The Department of Revenue has been issuing payments each week to qualifying businesses who have certified. To make you aware of the process, taxpayer instructions for completing a certification are below:

  1. Please visit https://tntap.tn.gov/eservices. Please do not log into your account at this time.

  2. Look for the heading "Tennessee Business Relief Program" at the top right of the TNTAP homepage.

  3. Click on the link labeled "Tennessee Business Relief Certification/Status” and enter the required information.

  4. Once the pre-award certification has been completed, please print or otherwise note the confirmation number for your submission.
